This is an important set of announcements regarding our petitioning project. Staying up-to-date and maintaining clear communication is absolutely crucial, and the best way to ensure this is to use the Forums of Arwing Landing as our PRIMARY staging ground.
For those of us who are pushing this little envelope into other online Star Fox forums, here is the pattern to follow:
1
Start new threads with the post that started this thread; as it is a good introductory and rally piece.
2
Then, insert THIS post as it contains all of the important announcements that supporters will need to know.
This process will ultimately direct all supporters back here, to our main staging grounds.
Pilots of Arwing Landing ? GODSPEED!!!
ANNOUNCEMENT 2008.02.24THE BIG IDEA
We want to see an official, completed version of the cancelled SNES title Star Fox 2 by Nintendo.
If you have ANY questions after reading these announcements, contact me at my primary e-mail address:
Voyager2001@cox.netTHREE SHORT TERM OBJECTIVES
We have three immediate goals that are to be tackled simultaneously:
1
First is to compose a concise presentation that we will later submit to Nintendo. The presentation has been outlined, and the first drafts are already being edited. The unedited drafts (as well as our presentation?s general outline as drafted on 2008.02.23) can be viewed on the original thread within the Forums of Arwing Landing. Here is the URL:
http://arwinglanding.net/forum/index.php?action=notify;topic=10551.0We have already appointed a few editors. If you wish to join the primary writing / editing team, email me at
Voyager2001@cox.net. (Be sure to title your e-mail messages appropriately)
2
Our second goal is to gather all of our support and DIRECT THEM TO Arwing Landing Forums. Staying up-to-date and maintaining clear communication is absolutely crucial, and the best way to ensure this is to use the Forums of Arwing Landing as our PRIMARY staging ground.
3
Our third goal embodies the most important element of this entire project; the petition.
What exactly is the petition?
The petition, titled
The Nation of Corneria, is one part of our presentation to Nintendo. It is NOT simply a list of signatures. Instead, it will be an assembly of
letters from Star Fox fans to Nintendo. Instead of merely signing a petition, each supporter will compose a one page letter directed to Nintendo. This will convey a powerful level of conviction that a simple list of signatures could never achieve. Ultimately, we will want to assemble
AT LEAST 1,000 letters. Specific criteria for our letters are explained below.
OUR CURRENT STATUS [2008.02.23]
We are currently drafting the various parts of our presentation, based on the outline.
Our project is still in its beginning phases; it is at this time being staged completely within the Forum of its inception: Arwing Landing.
WE WANT YOU!!!
A section of our presentation is titled
The Nation of Corneria. Following a brief opening, this section will be a collection of letters; one from each supporter. MSN Encarta defines a Petition as ?a written request signed by many people demanding a specific action from an authority or government?. Our presentation is not, by this definition, a ?petition.? Why? Because our presentation, our document, will not be supported by a long list of signatures. Instead of a list of signatures, we will back our proposal with letters; personal letters to Nintendo from each and every supporter.
Why personal letters? Well, to put it bluntly, signatures are cheap and common. A heartfelt letter exists on a completely higher level than a petition signature. Submit letters to my e-mail address:
Voyager2001@cox.net and they will be included in the final version of our presentation to Nintendo. (Be sure to title your e-mail messages appropriately!!!)
Also, please feel welcome to post your letters on Arwing Landing to get feedback yourself!
The following is a mock letter that highlights the key criteria that we need to include. It does not have to appear in the exact same format, so long as it possesses all of the important elements. Take your time, and go ahead and pour your heart out! Our letters must be as colorful as our personalities, so be creative and artistic.
(Of course, remember to keep it appropriate.)

[Mailing Address is NOT needed ? remember, all letters will be assembled together]
Dear [Audience];
[Main Body] Each of our letters must convey a level of passion for Star Fox and how much we would adore the completed, published version of Star Fox 2 by Nintendo. Perhaps we could answer the following questions within our letter?s body: Has Star Fox ever inspired you? How? How do you appreciate Star Fox as a piece of modern art/culture? What does Star Fox mean to you as a game and as a piece of art? How would you respond to seeing Star Fox 2 in a completed form? [There are myriads of more things to talk about. Be personal and expressive.]
By the way, our letters do NOT need to be written in English! Letters from different languages would be an extremely powerful demonstration of how united we really are about bringing back Star Fox 2.
Our letters should not exceed one page in length, and we must try to observe our best grammar. We don?t want to be wordy; one powerful sentence is far better than 100 pages of boringness. If you so desire, be artistic with your letter?s appearance; individuality is also very crucial.
Respectfully, [or similar closing]
